Flow, Californian & Lomi Lomi Training
Fluidity • Intuition • Conscious Touch
This comprehensive massage course combines Flow Massage and Californian Massage into one integrated training, while also introducing selected techniques inspired by Lomi Lomi and Abdominal massage.
The goal of the course is to help therapists move beyond rigid sequences and develop a more fluid, intuitive, and responsive style of bodywork. Students learn how to create treatments that feel seamless, connected, and deeply relaxing while remaining attentive to each client’s individual needs.
Flow Massage
Flow Massage is a fluid, intuitive approach centered on presence, continuity, conscious touch, and responsive movement. Therapists learn to adapt their touch in real time rather than simply following a fixed routine.
The practice emphasizes long transitions, rhythmic movement, whole-body integration, and the ability to move naturally from one area of the body to another without breaking the sense of connection. Particular attention is given to therapist body mechanics, pacing, breath, sensitivity, and the development of a calm, attentive therapeutic presence.
The result is a deeply restorative style of massage that encourages relaxation, body awareness, and a strong sense of continuity throughout the treatment.
Californian Massage
Students also develop a solid foundation in Californian Massage, known for its long, flowing, enveloping strokes and deeply relaxing full-body approach.
Participants learn how to use broad, continuous movements to connect different regions of the body, create smooth transitions, encourage muscular relaxation, and develop a coherent treatment from beginning to end.
Californian Massage provides an important technical foundation for Flow Massage and helps students refine their rhythm, coordination, body mechanics, and quality of touch.
Lomi Lomi-Inspired Techniques
The course also introduces selected elements inspired by Lomi Lomi massage, particularly its fluidity, broad forearm work, rhythmic movements, and continuous transitions.
These techniques are incorporated as complementary tools that students can integrate into their Californian and Flow treatments to expand their movement vocabulary and create greater variety and fluidity.
Abdominal Massage
Students will also explore foundational abdominal massage techniques that can be incorporated appropriately into a full-body treatment.
The focus is on safe, respectful, and gentle work, with particular attention to client comfort, communication, and the integration of abdominal techniques into the overall flow of a session.
Course Information
Hours
50h (Includes in-person courses, self-paced at home readings and self-paced home practice)
Draping Information
Because Flow, Californian and Lomi Lomi massages are characterized by long, continuous movements and seamless transitions across different areas of the body, they are traditionally practiced using minimal draping rather than full-body sheets. During practical training, the recipient remains appropriately covered with a sarong or small towels while allowing the therapist the freedom of movement required for the techniques.
As this is a hands-on course in which students will both give and receive practice treatments, participants should be comfortable working in this format. Professional boundaries, respectful draping, clear communication, and ongoing consent are enforced at all times.
Students are encouraged to consider their personal comfort with this style of practice before registering.
