STYLES OF YOGA

Vibrations Om ​offers daily classes in the following styles:

Flow Yoga
(​Vinyasa & Ashtanga)

Flow Yoga • Ashtanga Yoga
​
Ashtanga yoga is one of the most challenging and demanding forms of yoga practice, based on a specific series of postures synchronized with the breath. This practice is the origin of many of today's flow styles such as Vinyasa yoga.

​Vinyasa or Flow classes offer a quick and fluid sequence of postures, in synchronization with the breath. They leave room for the creativity of each teacher to vary the sequences from one class to another.
​
Other variations include Slow Flow (slower pace), Core Flow (with emphasis on core muscles), Gentle Flow (selection of more accessible postures), Power Flow (a bit spicier) and Hot Flow (in a well-heated room).

Traditional Yoga (Hatha & Sivananda)

Hatha Yoga • Sivananda Yoga Traditional yoga, also called Hatha Yoga, aims for the perfect balance between effort (HA) and rest (THA). Classes typically include breathing techniques, Sun Salutations, yoga poses held for about 5 breaths, and a final relaxation. The body stretches and strengthens and the mind calms down to the rhythm of traditional postures selected for their therapeutic benefits.

Other variations include Gentle Yoga (Hatha without inversions), Sivananda Yoga (Hatha following a specific sequence), Padma Sadhana (Hatha with breaths and meditation), Hatha Flow (mixing Flow and Hatha) and Hatha Yin (mixing Hatha and Yin).

​Restorative

Yin Yoga • Restorative Yoga
Yin Yoga stretches connective tissues and loosens fascia more than any other active style of class. The practice of deep, supported stretches held on the floor from 5 to 8 minutes in a meditative atmosphere will allow the body to relax, tensions to release and the mind to slow down.

Restorative Yoga is a gentle therapeutic style of yoga that uses different props to support the body in restful still positions. The focus of the practice is to restore the central nervous system and the internal systems of the body. Restorative Yoga is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation. Many props are used for optimal comfort. The class focuses on experiencing stillness to release physical and mental tensions in order to reach a deep state of relaxation.

Specialized Classes

Prenatal Yoga
Join our prenatal yoga group classes or take a private class to learn how to adapt your practice so you can join any class offered (at normal temperature) afterwards.

​We also offer prenatal massage which is suggested during the 2nd and 3rd semester of your pregnancy.
QiGong
Qigong is an ancient Chinese system for health that integrates standing physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. One of the most important principles of Qigong is that it helps you to "feel the Qi," the life-force energy that flows in every person and in the universe. People do Qigong to increase vitality, heal their bodies, calm their minds, and reconnect with their spirit.

Other Ways to Practice

In addition to our traditional yoga classes offered at our studios in Pointe-Claire, Lachine and Saint-Laurent, here are other options we offer so you can experience your yoga differently.
OUTDOOR YOGA

​To take advantage of the summer, we offer outdoor classes near each of the studios from June to September.
HOT YOGA
Picture
At the Lachine studio we offer some of our classes at room temperature and some of our classes in a hot room at 30°C.​
ONLINE YOGA
Picture
Join our teachers on Zoom for lessons offered in real time to create a real "connection".
